Being integrated into the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, our research focuses on the study of system-wide protein regulation using (mostly, but not exclusively) mass spectrometry based technology. We have developed a LC-MS/MS based method for the characterization of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from human plasma. The idea is to offer a comprehensive diagnostic method in order to study these particles in clinical research. Currently, we investigate the biology and the potential use of EVs in the context of myelodysplastic syndromes in close collaboration with Dr. med. Nicolas Bonadies. Our laboratory is furthermore equipped with a cone-and-plate apparatus setup on which adherent cells, e.g. endothelial cells, can be subjected to physiological shear stress of different quality. We invite interested researchers to use this system under a collaborative arrangement.
