The Day of BioMedical Research 2019

The Department for BioMedical Research (DBMR) provides the infrastructure and support for the biomedical research of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern. The annual “Day of BioMedical Research” has established itself as a forum for researchers to present their work in a poster session and to get insights into the research projects of their colleagues.
Highlights of the program are the distribution of the Johanna Dürmüller-Bol DBMR Research Award 2019 and of, the Poster Prizes of the DBMR, the Prize for Best Publication and the Research Prize Alumni MedBern. Two outstanding keynote lectures organized by the DBMR will complete the program. The final program of the Day of BioMedical Research will be available on the DBMR homepage in October 2019.
At the Day of BioMedical Research, the following prizes will be awarded:
Johanna Dürmüller-Bol DBMR Research Award 2019 (CHF 30'000)
The aim of this research award is the support of a young researcher of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern. The research award honours a promising research project, and should provide the base for a successful application for a peer reviewed, competitive grant.

Poster Prizes of the DBMR (CHF 2'000, each)
All students and members of the institutes and clinics of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern and of the Inselspital engaged in research are invited to submit an abstract and present a poster of their work.
Three Poster Prizes will be awarded to young researchers:
- the best preclinical project
- the best clinical project
- the best project by a medical student
(submissions for the latter must be accompanied by a confirmation letter from the supervisor and a copy of the medical student’s matriculation pass and sent by eMail to the Dept. Administrator DBMR, Ms Marla Rittiner, email@example.com)
The candidates for the Poster Prizes are Master Students, PhD and MD Students or Postdocs within max. of 5 years after graduation and are first and presenting authors of their abstracts and posters.
The Prize for Best DBMR Publication
- the best DBMR publication in 2018
To qualify, DBMR affiliation of the First Author and/or the Corresponding Author is mandatory. Submit your publication via the abstract form with a short text (half a page) describing why your publication is special and should win the prize. Please submit all the information in one PDF File.
The jury members of the four categories (the best preclinical project, the best clinical project, the best project by a medical student and the best DBMR publication in 2018) are responsible for all aspects of awarding the prize. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed. There is no obligation to award the prizes.

The Alumni MedBern will honour an abstract with the Research Prize Alumni MedBern (CHF 2'000). The award will be distributed based on the assessment of the following criteria:
- Collaboration between university and non-university partners
- Collaboration between basic research and clinical research
- Interdisciplinary collaboration
- Collaboration between Faculties of the University of Bern
