The primary task of the Steroid Laboratory lies in the study of steroid metabolism and its clinical implications through the development of novel bioanalytical techniques for the identification and quantification of steroids. Whereas these methods are principally developed to answer research-related questions, we also have a strong interest in translating these methods into clinical practice to ameliorate the detection and diagnosis of steroid-related diseases in patients. In this context, we are also responsible for the clinical diagnosis of steroid-related diseases in collaboration with the Center of Laboratory Medicine at Inselspital.
